Yo-Yo Ma — Crossing Borders: A Musical Journey (9-CD)

Showcasing the global journeys of musical explorer Yo-Yo Ma, Crossing Borders compiles several of Ma’s adventures outside the classical canon into music found around the world.

Inside are several Grammy-winning albums, among them Appalachia Waltz and Appalachian Journey (2001 Grammy® Award, Best Classical Crossover Album) with Mark O’Connor and Edgar Meyer, Soul of the Tango — The Music of Astor Piazzolla (1999 Grammy® Award, Best Classical Crossover Album) and Obrigado Brazil (2004 Grammy® Award, Best Classical Crossover Album). Ma’s east-meets-west Silk Road Ensemble is highlighted on Silk Road Journeys, alongside Japanese Melodies, an album of Ma performing traditional Japanese music.

Also included on this collection are Anything Goes, an album highlighting the music of Cole Porter alongside Stephane Grappelli (violin); Claude Bolling’s Suite for Cello and Jazz Piano Trio with the composer at the piano, Marc Michel (bass) and Jean-Luc Dayan (drums), and Hush, Ma’s famous collaboration with Bobby McFerrin.
