Verdi: Attila, Muti/MMFO (2-CD)
Discs: 2
Record Label: Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino
Release Year: 2019
Often described as one of Verdi’s “crasser” products, Attila is rarely staged, let alone recorded. Italian conductor Riccardo Muti cherishes this early work of his beloved Verdi, and in his ample hands the music comes to life with the same vivaciousness of the later Nabucco and Otello. Here, Muti leads a historic performance of Attila at the Teatro Comunale di Firenze, recorded live in 1972.
