Join violinist Rachel Barton Pine, conductor Carlos Kalmar and the illustrious Chicago Symphony Orchestra on a journey exploring the friendship between Hungarian violinist and composer Joseph Joachim and the legendary Johannes Brahms. Joachim’s concerto was written in 1861 and dedicated to his dear friend Johannes Brahms, which no doubt inspired the 1879 premiere of Brahms’ Violin Concerto with the composer at the podium, Joachim as soloist. Here, the two works are presented together on this one-of-a-kind release by Cedille Records.
