Joe Henderson’s Consonance: Live at the Jazz Showcase presents the first-ever release of the saxophone titan’s February 1978 performances at Joe Segal’s legendary Jazz Showcase in Chicago. Released by Resonance Records, this 2-CD set features Henderson’s quartet with pianist Joanne Brackeen, bassist Steve Rodby and drummer Danny Spencer, mastered from the original tapes by George Klabin and John Koenig.

Spanning expansive live versions of “Inner Urge,” “Recorda Me,” “’Round Midnight,” “Invitation” and more, Consonance captures Henderson in a searching, powerfully expressive club setting. Drawn from the Jazz Showcase archives, the release offers a vivid portrait of one of modern jazz’s great tenor saxophonists in full creative flight.
