John Williams: Reimagined presents a wide-ranging selection of the composer’s film music in intimate new arrangements for flute, cello and piano. Flutist Sara Andon, cellist Cécilia Tsan and pianist Simone Pedroni revisit music from across Williams’ career, transforming familiar orchestral scores into chamber works that highlight their melodies, harmonies and expressive detail.
The two-disc collection reaches well beyond Williams’ most famous themes. Alongside music from Star Wars, Schindler’s List, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial are selections from Jane Eyre, Memoirs of a Geisha, The River, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Far and Away, Seven Years in Tibet, The Accidental Tourist, War Horse, Sabrina and The Witches of Eastwick. The album also includes Williams’ Elegy for Cello and Orchestra, heard here in a chamber setting.
Many of the arrangements were created by Pedroni specifically for this project, allowing the three musicians to move between solo, duo and trio combinations throughout the program. Released by Warner Classics in 2024, John Williams: Reimagined offers a more intimate perspective on Williams’ music, revealing the lyrical and chamber-like qualities beneath some of his best-known cinematic scores.
