Shostakovich: The Piano Concertos; Solo Works features Yuja Wang with trumpet soloist Thomas Rolfs, the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Andris Nelsons. Released as part of Nelsons’ and the BSO’s award-winning Shostakovich project marking the 50th anniversary of the composer’s death, the album pairs the composer’s two piano concertos with solo works in performances praised for their brilliance, color and playfulness.

With Wang at the keyboard, these works reveal both the wit and virtuosity of Shostakovich’s writing, from the incisive energy of the concertos to the more intimate character of the solo pieces. The release has been recognized as a Gramophone Editor’s Choice, received a 2026 Grammy nomination for Best Classical Instrumental Solo and was named among The New York Times’ Best Classical Music Albums of 2025.
